Akan Hire

What is the Akan Lake Ride-Share?
The Akan Lake Ride-Share is a new transportation service created to address local mobility challenges, such as the shortage of taxi drivers. While taxi companies manage the operations and provide their vehicles, local residents with a standard driver’s license serve as the drivers. As a community-based initiative, it offers an alternative means of transportation that supports both daily life and tourism in the Lake Akan area.

How to Use
Reservation
Please make a reservation by phone before using the service.
We recommend booking by the day before for a smoother experience, but same-day reservations may be accepted when possible.
When taxis are fully booked, ride-share vehicles will be operated instead.

Fare
Payment by cash, credit card, or taxi voucher (prepaid taxi ticket).
Fixed fare (when the destination is predetermined)
When your destination is fixed, such as Kushiro Airport or Mashu Station, the fare will be confirmed at the time of reservation.
The distance is automatically calculated using a map application, and the amount will not change afterward.
※This “Fixed Fare System” means that the fare is presented to you before the ride, and the service begins only after you agree to the fare.
※For private vehicle operation projects within the Akan–Shiranuka transportation area, including Akan Onsen, the coefficient applied for the fixed fare calculation is 1.13.
Fixed fare (when the destination is predetermined)
If you plan to visit several sightseeing spots from Lake Akan, you can use the service on a time-based fare.
This allows you to travel flexibly according to your stay time and stopovers, without worrying about the driving distance.
